Matt Damon

Biography

Matt Damon can be considered a Golden Boy of Hollywood after winning an Oscar for "Good Will Hunting." His class, finesse, and expertise at acting have placed him ahead of the rest. He is the thinking man's actor and one of the most affable stars in Hollywood.

Actor, Screenwriter Matt Damon was born on 8th October 1970, in Boston, Massachusetts. Matt's older brother, Kyle is an artist and sculptor. After the divorce of his parents, Matt then a young boy, moved with his mother and brother from the 'elitist' Boston suburb to a more modest neighborhood in Cambridge.

Matt participated in several local drama productions alongside with his neighbor and close friend Ben Affleck. When Matt was 16 years old, he auditioned for a New York casting agent and this helped him land his very first movie role, a 'blink and miss' appearance as an extra in the cult classic film, "Mystic Pizza" (1988) staring the lovely and talented Julia Roberts.

After graduating from school, Damon joined Harvard University and subsequently appeared in a Turner Network Television (TNT) movie, 'Rising Son' (1990), with Brian Dennehy. After two years, in 1992, Matt landed his first sizeable role, as an obnoxious young WASP in "School Ties."

Hollywood Calling
Soon, Matt landed an important supporting role in "Geronimo: An American Legend" (1993), starring heavy-weights Gene Hackman and Robert Duvall. Matt made his first starring turn in the 1995 TNT movie 'The Good Old Boys,' co-starring Tommy Lee Jones, who also co-wrote and directed the movie. Nevertheless, Damon's breakthrough performance came in the 1996 with the film "Courage Under Fire." He co-starred with Denzel Washington and Meg Ryan in this movie.

Matt struggled for several years. In 1997, Francis Ford Coppola cast Matt as the lead in "The Rainmaker." Based on this news, Matt and Ben Affleck were finally able to strike a major deal with Miramax for the movie "Good Will Hunting," 1997. This movie was the story of a math genius and his tryst in life. Both Damon and Affleck won the Oscars for Best Original Screenplay and put Matt in line for the Best Actor Award.

The success of "Good Will Hunting" propelled the career of Damon into high gear and movies like "Saving Private Ryan," (1998) followed. Matt went on to play the lead Tom Ripley in "The Talented Mr. Ripley" (1999) in a calculated risk. His role won him the Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor.

Other movies that Matt has acted in are "Dogma" (1999), "All the Pretty Horses" (2000), "The Legend of Bagger Vance" (2000), "Stuck On You" (2003), "The Bourne Identity" (2002), "The Bourne Supremacy" (2004), "The Departed" (2006) and "The Bourne Ultimatum," slated for release in 2007.

During the shooting of Stuck on You in 2003, Matt came in contact with Luciana Bonzan Barroso, a bartender and got married to her in 2005.

Welcome to the Matt Damon Message Board. Get in touch with Matt Damon to voice your support, appreciation, or opinion.

Can you imagine how much snail mail and email a celebrity must get? Most simply don't have time to go through all of it and even less time to respond. So, for this reason, we've created this shout-out message board. It's a far simpler way to communicate with your favorite stars and celebrities.

Try to keep your messages short and sweet. No one wants to read your entire life story. We don't know if you'll get a response, but if enough people post a message, these celebrities won't be able to ignore them all.

I hope one day you come back to montana and hold auditions for a movie. My dream is to extra in a Matt Damon produced film. It was so nice to meet you in the cabin on the ski hill. :) You are a very kind soul.

Hello Matt,
I really like your movies and think that you are a very cool guy. But, the reason I am contacting you is to offer my full support you, should you decide to become a candidate for President for the Democratic Party, as it was suggested in The Guardian Aug 14 2011. We DO need leadership, and I do feel you may hone your current abilities to become a great leader. Even though, I am an Argentine naturalized American, I have always supported the Dems and Obama, since our great country is in the hands of the conservatives who are in the process of ruining it all. They will destroy this great country of ours.
I don't have much to offer, but my support. We need a strong leader. You may be the one!
Best regards,
Ricardo N Ponce

Hey Matt, i'm a huge fan of your films! I really love how you depict yourself when you're acting. Someday I would love to be an actor in a Hollywood movie, i just can't seem to put myself out there and be in any local plays to get experience. Any tips?

Hey Matt..I am an Otolaryngologist in OKC, OK.
Money was tight in the 80's for this poor Okie so I joined the Army to pay for my Medical School. Seem like a good idea at the time. Unfortunately I was in the wrong place at the right time and was sent to Iraq during the first War to free Kuwait..operation desert storm. I was a Flight Surgeon with the First Cav...busy after the 100 day ground war taking care of Iraqi wounded and demolishing all the WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION that we found...thousands of rounds (bombs) filled with mustard gas and a few filled with Sarin and other neuromuscular agents.

We, as you know, allowed almost all of his remaining soldiers and equipment to go back to Bagdad untouched. Turns out that would be a fairly bad decision that would haunt our next President (GW2). They did have weapons of mass destruction along with all of the players who could make more. They had used it on the Kurds and had detailed plans on using it on me.
These are the facts and they are not in dispute. The rest of the story is all you seem to speak to..
Call me, I'm listed in OKC..and we can discuss the merits of freeing a country...sans weapons of mass destruction that they had years (10) to hide and move..from a vicious pit bull dicator ...(that yet another american administration put into power).
