Ladder to Fame
Bilson got her first break at the age of 7 when her parents helped her get a role in the film called 'The Wrong Guys.' She acted beside famous comedian Louie Anderson. After this movie, Bilson continued with her auditions for roles at Notre Dame High School. Again, through a recommendation of a good friend, Bilson received a role in a seven-part television mini-series called the 'Human Target.' It was an insignificant role but it made Bilson realize her potential and was the turning point in her life.

Bilson dropped out of her college to pursue professional acting and made many appearances in commercials. She has worked on advertisements for Pepto-Bismol and Raisin Bran. Her screen-acting debut began with 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' in 2003. She also appeared in '8 Simple Rules' for Dating My Teenage Daughter, and in a short film called 'Unbroken.' Soon after, Bilson was cast in 'The O.C.' which also marked her claim to fame. Bilson became an integral part of pop culture due to her series regular role on the very popular television show 'The O.C.' for four seasons.

She began shooting for 'The O.C.' in August 2003. She played the character of Summer Roberts. She was initially taken on to act in a few episodes but after a successful run, her character became a permanent part of the script.

Bilson's first film acting opportunity came with 'The Last Kiss,' which is a romantic comedy staring Zach Braff and Jacinda Barrett. 'The Last Kiss' hit theaters September 15, 2006 with Bilson playing a college student who seduces the character played by Braff. Following 'The Last Kiss,' Bilson starred opposite Hayden Christensen and Samuel L. Jackson in the Doug Liman directed action, thriller film, 'Jumper.'

Her film credits include 'The To Do List,' opposite Bill Hader and Aubrey Plaza, 'L!fe Happens,' opposite Kate Bosworth, and with Andy Garcia in a film comprised of a series of shorts called 'New York, I Love You.' She also starred as the female lead in 'Waiting for Forever.'

She also had guest-starring roles in television series such as 'That '70s Show' and 'Mad TV.' She appeared twice as a guest star on the television series 'How I Met Your Mother' as well as Josh Schwartz's 'Chuck.'

Bilson was most recently seen on the CMT series 'Nashville' where she played Alyssa Green, a Silicon Valley marketing expert. From 2011–2015, she starred as Dr. Zoe Hart in four seasons of The CW series 'Hart of Dixie,' a fish-out-of-water story about a New York City doctor adjusting to life in a small Southern town after she inherits a local medical practice.
