Biography
Skylar Astin stars as Max on NBC's "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist."In addition to "Zoey's," Astin can also be seen in "Secret Society of Second Born Royals," an original live action film for Disney+ directed by Anna Mastro (Marvel's "Runaways" and "The Bold Type").
Astin is well known for his turn as Jesse in the hit "Pitch Perfect" franchise. Additional big screen credits include "Ghosts of War: 21 and Over" with Miles Teller, "Taking Woodstock" for director Ang Lee, the Sundance entry "Hamlet 2," "Flock of Dudes," "Cavemen" and the Disney animated film "Wreck It Ralph"
On television, he recently starred opposite Golden Globe winner Rachel Bloom in the final season of The CW's "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend." Other television credits include "Graves," "Hot Air" and "Ground Floor." He has made guest appearances in "Girls," "Halt and Catch Fire," "House" and "Love Bites."
A native New Yorker, Astin's first break came in the 2006 cultural phenomenon "Spring Awakening," which went on to win eight Tony Awards, and recently portrayed the iconic role of Tony in Carnegie Hall's performance of "West Side Story."
Astin currently resides in Los Angeles.
