Biography

Rami Malek stars as Elliot, a brilliant cyber-security engineer, on USA Network's Golden Globe® Award-winning series, "Mr. Robot."

For his work on the hit drama series, Malek received an Emmy® Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama, a Screen Actors Guild® Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series and won a Critics' Choice® Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series.

Most recently, Malek wrapped production on "Papillon" opposite Charlie Hunnam. The remake of the 1973 Steve McQueen film is directed by Michael Noer. Malek plays the role of Louis Dega, originated by Dustin Hoffman. Upcoming, he will portray the iconic Queen front-man Freddie Mercury in the biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody" from director Bryan Singer.

In 2016, Malek starred in "Buster's Mal Heart," a surreal mystery film written and directed by Sarah Adina Smith, featured at both the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival and 2017 Tribeca Film Festival. In 2012, Malek was featured in Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master" opposite Philip Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix and Amy Adams. He also notably appeared in the miniseries "The Pacific" as Snafu. His performance garnered incredible reviews and led him to being cast by Tom Hanks in "Larry Crowne" at Universal and Bill Condon in the last installment of "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn." Prior to that, Malek was seen in "Night at the Museum" 1 & 2 opposite Ben Stiller, which marked his big screen debut, and had a memorable arc on the television series "24."

In 2014, Malek appeared in the feature "Need for Speed," directed by Scott Waugh, as well as the third installment of "Night at the Museum." He was also featured in Spike Lee's "Old Boy" opposite Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Olsen, and starred in "Short Term 12" with Brie Larson, directed by Destin Cretton.
