Jeff Garlin
Biography
Jeff Garlin plays cantankerous Murray Goldberg on ABC's hit comedy series "The Goldbergs."Garlin's talent is all-encompassing, extending to writing, producing, directing, acting and performing stand-up comedy. He adapted his solo stage show, "I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With," into an independent film that premiered to critical acclaim at the Tribeca Film Festival, and IFC released it in 2007. The studio also released his second feature, "Dealin' with Idiots," in which he served as writer, director and star. He also executive produced the 2013 Academy Award®-nominated documentary "Finding Vivian Maier," about a mysterious nanny who gained a posthumous reputation as one the most accomplished street photographers.
Garlin's other movie credits include the first Netflix murder mystery, "Handsome," as co-writer, director and star. He has done extensive voiceover acting and can be heard in "Paranorman" as Perry Babcock, Disney•Pixar's "WALL-E" as The Captain, "Cars 2" as Otis and "Toy Story 3" as Buttercup the Unicorn.
Garlin is also the executive producer and co-star of the critically acclaimed HBO comedy "Curb Your Enthusiasm," which returns in 2020 for its 10th season. During the show's seventh season, he wrote the nonfiction book "Curbing It" (Simon & Schuster), in which he shared his eye-opening journey to reduce his waistline and his carbon footprint.
He also hosts a live show at the Largo theater in Los Angeles. Guests have included Larry David, Conan O'Brien, Zach Galifianakis, Will Ferrell, J.J. Abrams, Vince Gilligan, Lena Dunham, Michael Moore, Amy Poehler, Jeff Tweedy and Judd Apatow.
Garlin lives in Los Angeles. His hobbies include taking naps.
