Hannah Waddingham currently co-stars in the comedy series "Sex Education" as Sofia Marchetti, as well as the role of Jax-Ur in the series "Krypton."Still, she is perhaps best known for her role as Septa Unella, the 'Shame Nun,' in "Game Of Thrones." Hannah appeared as Magdalena in the series "12 Monkeys" for SyFy and played Dr. Stone in Kay Mellor's prime time BBC drama "In The Club." She starred in BBC 2's "The Entire Universe" alongside Eric Idle, Warwick Davis, Noel Fielding and Brian Cox.
On the feature film side, she recently appeared in "The Hustle" with Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson; and "Winter Ridge," for which she won Best Supporting Actress at the International Film Festival of Wales 2019. Further film work includes "Les Miserables," "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People" and "Meet Pursuit Delange" which premiered at the Raindance Film Festival in London.
Her other television work includes Jack Dee's "Bad Move," "Josh and Partners in Crime," "Benidorm," "Miss Marple-The Mirror Crack'd," "Not Going Out" and "My Family" to name a few.
Hannah also has a wealth of experience in theatre and is most known for her contribution to West End Musical Theatre. Over the last 20 years, she has received three Olivier nominations for her roles in "Kiss Me Kate" as Kate/Lilli Vanessi (Old Vic/Dir. Trevor Nunn), "A Little Night Music" as Desiree Armfeldt (Garrick & Menier Chocolate Factory/Dir. Trevor Nunn) and Monty Python's "Spamalot" as The Lady of The Lake (Palace Theatre/Dir. Mike Nicholls) for which she won the Broadway.com Award for Best Newcomer. She also won the What's On Stage Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical as The Wicked Witch of The West in "The Wizard of Oz" (London Palladium/Dir. Jeremy Samms).
Other theatre work includes The Witch in Sondheim's "Into The Woods" (Regent's Park Open Air Theatre), "The Beautiful Game" for Andrew Lloyd-Webber (Cambridge Theatre. Critics' Circle Award) and Lautrec for Charles Aznavour (Shaftesbury Theatre Awards for Best Actress in a Musical and Best Newcomer).
Next up, Hannah can be seen as Queen Elizabeth 1 in Boubil & Shoenberg's "The Pirate Queen" at The London Coliseum.
