Biography

Emmy® and Golden Globe®-winning actor, Camryn Manheim is best known for her role on ABC's "The Practice."

On the small screen, she has had numerous roles, including "Ghost Whisperer," "Person of Interest," "Criminal Minds," "Code Black," "Masters of Sex," "Two and a Half Men," "How I Met Your Mother," "Extant," "Chicago Hope," "Harry's Law," "Younger," "Hand of God," "The L Word," "Will & Grace," "Ally McBeal," "Jesse Stone: Thin Ice," "Family Guy" and "The 10th Kingdom," among others.

Manheim will next be seen in ABC's new fall drama "Stumptown," as well as in Amazon's "Utopia," Netflix's "Dolly Parton's Heartstrings" and the independent film "Killing Eleanor." She recently wrapped filming the last season of SYFY's "The Magicians" and Paramount Network's miniseries, "Waco," starring Michael Shannon and Taylor Kitsch. Manheim was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her portrayal of Gladys Presley in the CBS miniseries "ELVIS."

Her feature film credits include "Cop Car," "Return to Sender," "Slipstream," "An Unfinished Life," "Without Men," "Twisted," "Scary Movie 3," "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion," "Happiness," "The Laramie Project," "Dark Water," "The Road to Wellville" and "Eraser."

Manheim made her Broadway debut in Deaf West's Tony Award®-nominated production of "Spring Awakening." She also won an Obie Award for Craig Lucas' "Missing Persons" at the Atlantic Theater Company. Manheim adapted her one-woman off-Broadway show, "Wake Up, I'm Fat!," into a book by the same name, which became a New York Times Best Seller.

She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz and her Master of Fine Arts degree at New York University. She teaches and lectures all over the United States and abroad.

Manheim grew up in Peoria, Illinois, and Long Beach, California. She currently resides in Venice, California, with her son Milo.
