Jessica Simpson
Jessica Simpson has taken the world of music, movies, fashion, and entertainment
by storm. An extremely talented artist, Jessica has a universal appeal which has
helped her to become an internationally recognized star and with no signs of
stopping!
Born on July 10, 1980 and raised in Dallas, Texas, Jessica first sang under the
guidance of her parents Joe Simpson and Tina Ann Drew, at the Church Choir. Soon
enough she was sharing the stage with stalwarts like Kirk Franklin, God’s
Property, and CeCe Winans.
Jessica first broke into the music world when a Christian record company signed
her for an album. However, her celebrations were short lived as the record
company, soon crashed.
Born to be a star, Jessica’s unmistakably 'pop' voice quality was spotted by
Tommy Mottola, of Columbia Records. In 1999, Jessica rode into the music scene
with her debut release 'Sweet Kisses.'
Sound of Music
Sweet Kisses was a double platinum album. The album featured the massively
popular track 'I Wanna Love You Forever.' This song debuted at #3 on the
Billboard Hot 100 chart and #5 on the Top 40 Hits, as well.
In the year 2000, Jessica won the Teen Choice Awards for Choice Breakout Artist
and Love Song of the Year – "Where you are." "Irresistible" happened to Jessica
in 2001. The title track of Irresistible reached top 20 in the US, Canada and UK
and top 40 in Australia.
However it was the 3rd album 'In the Skin' which really established Jessica
Simpson, not just as a singer of repute but also as a song writer. The album
went platinum 4times over.
Ladder to Fame
Already having made her mark in the music industry, offers from Hollywood
started pouring in for Jessica. She has a recurring role in "That 70’s Show" and
MTV’s reality show "Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica" launched in 2003, which became a
huge hit. In 2005, Jessica starred as Daisy Duke in the movie "The Dukes of
Hazzard." The soundtrack of the movie, 'These boots are made for walking' a cover
of Nancy Sinatra’s song, by Jessica became a platinum hit! Jessica has just
completed shooting for the movie, "Employee of the Month" and her 5th solo album
"A Public Affair" was released on 29th August, 2006.
