Brittany Murphy
A delicate, doe-eyed, and attractive actor, Brittany Murphy is famous for her supporting roles in movies such as 'Clueless,' 'Girl, Interrupted,' and '8 Mile.' But Murphy grabbed
the limelight in 'Don't Say a Word' and 'Just Married.'
Murphy was born Brittany Anne Murphy on November 10th 1977, in Atlanta. Murphy's parents divorced and she was forced to move to New Jersey. Murphy began her acting career at the
age of two. Murphy discovered regional theatre while in New Jersey, at the age of nine and played parts in productions of 'Les Miserables' and 'Really Rosie' (sang and acted) and
was appreciated for her talent. By thirteen, Murphy decided to hire a manager and moved to Los Angeles, California.
After gaining experience in a slew of disposable TV serials such as 'Murphy Brown,' 'Drexel's Class' (1991-92), 'Almost Home' (1993), she got the big break of her life as Tai Frasier
in 'Clueless' (1995), starring Alicia Silverstone.
Hollywood Calling
'Clueless' was a sleeper hit. From here on, Murphy went on to do lesser-known films including 'Freeway' (1996), 'Drive' (1997), 'Bongwater' (1997), 'Phoenix' (1998), and
'Falling Sky' (1998), after which she was away from the limelight for many years.
Murphy struck gold in films of the estrogenic variety such as 'Girl, Interrupted,' and 'Drop Dead Gorgeous' in 1999. Then in 2001, she acted in other young generation girl
movies such as 'Riding in Cars with Boys' as the best friend of Drew Barrymore.
By this time, Murphy's career was on an all time high. In 2002, she started shooting for 'Spun' (2003) and '8 Mile' (2003) with Eminem. However, it was the hit, 'Just Married'
(2003) with her then real-life boyfriend Ashton Kutcher, that was the surprise hit of the year. Murphy also lent her voice in the movie 'Good Boy' (2003).
Finally, in 2004 Murphy bagged her first lead role after years of hard work in 'Little Black Book.' The comedy also starred Holly Hunter. With the Box Office smash 'Sin City,'
Murphy shared screen space with an ensemble cast in the likes of Bruce Wills, Mickey Ruorke, Jessica Alba and many more.
The year 2006, has been an eventful year for Murphy. She has released her first single ever, provided vocals to Paul Oakenfold's dance hit 'Faster Kill Pussycat.' According to
Murphy, she will consciously do more comedies that are romantic and has continued her job as an actor by starring in 'The Groomsmen' (2006) and the romantic comedy, 'Love and
Other Disasters' (2006).
Despite her onscreen acting prowess, Murphy's most widely appreciated and also the longest running work is her act as the voice behind the aspiring beautician Luanne Platter
on the animated television series 'King of the Hill' (1997-Current). Murphy most recently lent her voice in the movie 'Happy Feet' (2006).
